Wiktoria Dorota Maciejewska was born on 19 Oct 1886 in Buffalo, Erie, New York, United States, the daughter of Jan Maciejewski and Weronika Lewandowska. She was baptized Wiktoria on 24 Oct 1886 at St. Stanislaus RC Church in Buffalo, Erie, New York, United States.
She was listed with both parents in Buffalo, Erie, New York, in the New York State Census of 1892, and as a daughter of Veronica Maciejewski in Buffalo, Erie, New York, in the census records of 1900, 1905, and 1910.
She was a long-term housekeeper for Rev. Adalbert Cichy, Roman Catholic priest. In 1920, she appeared in the census as Victoria Maciejewska at 284 Broad Street in Salamanca, Cattaraugus, New York as a Housekeeper in the household of Rev. Adalbert Cichy, pastor of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church.
She appeared in the New York State census in 1925 at 77 Water Street in Perry, Wyoming, New York. Rev. Adalbert Cichy was the pastor of St. Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Church, a parish that served the Polish workers recruited from Buffalo and Depew to work in the Perry mills.
Although she was 61 years old when she died on 9 Apr 1948, the death record in the Buffalo Courier-Express on April 14th listed her age as 55. She was buried alongside her mother at St. Stanislaus RC Cemetery in Cheektowaga, Erie, New York, United States.
Update: In 2015, my daughter, grandchildren, and I went camping in Letchworth State Park, and spent some time in nearby Perry. I’ve since learned about the Polish community working at the Perry mills, and that Rev. Adalbert Cichy was pastor of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Perry.
